A source close to Hamas told AFP that a leadership delegation from Hamas is heading to Cairo this Saturday evening for new discussions regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, stated, "A leadership delegation from Hamas is expected to travel to Cairo this evening (Saturday) to meet with Egyptian officials overseeing the ceasefire negotiations and to follow up on developments aimed at stopping the aggression and war, as well as a prisoner exchange deal."
He added, "The delegation will deliver the movement's official response to the new Paris proposal." The discussions are centered around a six-week ceasefire during which Hamas would release 42 Israeli hostages, including women and children under the age of 18, along with sick and elderly individuals, at a rate of one hostage per day in exchange for the release of ten Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons. Hamas is also demanding an increase in the number of aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip.
