An Israeli Mossad report stated that Hamas is more interested in igniting the Middle East during Ramadan than in stopping the war in Gaza. It added, "At this stage, Hamas remains steadfast in its position as if it is uninterested in the deal, striving hard to inflame the region during Ramadan at the expense of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip." The report continued: "It should be emphasized that communications and cooperation with intermediaries continue in an effort to narrow the gaps and advance the agreements." Hostage talks are expected to resume in Cairo next week. Hamas stated it will continue to work towards achieving a ceasefire with Israel in Gaza, despite the absence of Israeli negotiators from the latest round of talks in Cairo.
