Palestinian human rights institutions announced today, Tuesday, that "a Palestinian prisoner died in an Israeli prison and had been detained since February of last year without trial." In a joint statement, they reported that "the victim from Megiddo prison, who passed away yesterday, is prisoner Abdul Rahman Ahmad Mohamed Mar'i (33 years old) from the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan in the Salfit district." The organizations added that "Mar'i had been detained since February 25 and did not suffer from any health issues prior to his arrest; he was married and a father of four children, the oldest of whom is 11 years old and the youngest is four." The Israeli Prison Service stated in its announcement that "Mar'i felt unwell and was transferred to the prison clinic where his death was declared." They added that "an investigation into the circumstances of his death will be conducted, as is standard in similar cases."
