The Kremlin confirmed today, Tuesday, that there are no plans for communications between President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman before the OPEC+ meeting of major oil producers this week. During a press conference, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov was asked whether any agreements were expected after the OPEC+ meeting and if any discussions were planned between Putin and the Saudi Crown Prince. Peskov replied: "So far, there are no plans for phone communications this week. Regarding OPEC+, as you know, we do not announce anything at all. It is a very sensitive and responsible matter, and Russia continues to communicate with its counterparts in the same way."
The coalition, which includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies led by Russia, will hold an online meeting on Thursday to decide on oil production levels. The meeting was originally scheduled for Sunday. OPEC+ sources indicated that the postponement was due to a disagreement over production levels among African producers, but other sources have since stated that the coalition is nearing a compromise on this issue.
