The Death of Journalist Gizelle Khoury at the Age of 62 - Video

Journalist Gizelle Khoury passed away this morning, Sunday, after a struggle with illness. Gizelle was born in 1961 in Al-Aqibah, Kesrouan. She studied media at the Lebanese University and married Dr. Eli Khoury at the age of twenty. She later married Samir Qasir and remained with him until his assassination on June 2, 2005. She was active in the Democratic Left Movement, which Qasir co-founded. She had a son named Marwan and a daughter named Rana from her first marriage. Gizelle also acted in the series "The American Sheikha" in 2008.

She began her professional career in late 1985 on LBC as a host of cultural talk shows. Gizelle joined the Arab Media Group "MBC" in 2002 and contributed to the launch of Al Arabiya news channel, which broadcasts 24 hours a day. She hosted a weekly political talk show on Al Arabiya from 2003 to 2013. Gizelle participated in founding "Al-Rawi" production company, whose first project was a four-part biography of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. In 2013, Khoury was appointed by BBC Arabic to host the program "Al-Mashhad." Khoury received the Knight's Medal from the French Legion of Honor.
