Al Ahly Club was crowned the Egypt Cup champion for the 2023/2022 season after defeating their rivals Zamalek with a score of 2-0 in the final match held outside Egypt for the first time in the tournament's history, at Al Awwal Park in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The first goal was scored by Imam Ashour in the 86th minute of the match, in his first encounter with his former team Zamalek, while Mohamed Magdy Afsha scored the second goal in stoppage time. This title is the 39th for Al Ahly in history, continuing to hold the record as the most successful club in the competition, followed by Zamalek with 28 titles.
