New York Times Questions Israel’s Narrative on Flour Massacre

An investigation by the New York Times on Friday raised doubts about the Israeli army's account of the flour massacre committed against Palestinian civilians who had gathered at the Nablusi square in northern Gaza to receive aid. The investigation accused the Israeli army of altering the footage it broadcasted, claiming that those who were killed had died as a result of being run over and crowding, in an attempt to evade responsibility for the massacre that occurred early Thursday and resulted in the deaths of at least 112 Palestinians, according to a toll announced by the health ministry in the Gaza Strip. The New York Times highlighted that the Israeli army’s footage included scattered clips showing large numbers of people in lines for aid, followed by scattered corpses and attempts of survivors to hide. An analysis of the footage conducted by the New York Times indicated that images broadcasted by Al Jazeera from a side street helped to complete the events and clarify what happened on the ground, as they showed gunfire while crowds of people dispersed and sought cover.
