Washington Is Set to Send a Second Aircraft Carrier Near Israel

The American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal" cited Pentagon sources that the United States is considering the possibility of sending a second aircraft carrier to the shores of Israel. According to the newspaper, the U.S. Department of Defense will send the aircraft carrier "Dwight D. Eisenhower" along with its accompanying ships, which were scheduled to arrive in the Middle East several months ago. Sources indicated to the paper that the carrier is expected to reach the region in about two weeks. The first aircraft carrier sent by the United States, the "Gerald R. Ford," along with its accompanying ships, is scheduled to arrive in Israeli waters today, Tuesday. According to the paper's sources, the Pentagon has not officially decided yet whether one aircraft carrier will replace the other or if both will remain in operation near the Israeli coast. On Sunday, the Pentagon ordered the strike group of the "Gerald R. Ford" aircraft carrier to sail to the eastern Mediterranean to be ready to assist Israel.
