Media outlets and Turkish authorities reported today, Monday, that a collapse occurred in a mine in Elazığ province in eastern Turkey, resulting in three workers being trapped underground, according to initial information. Teams of doctors and disaster and emergency management personnel were dispatched to the site of the incident. The Turkish disaster and emergency management agency (AFAD) stated that "as a result of the search and rescue operation, two miners have been retrieved, while efforts to find the third continue without interruption." Other reports mentioned that four workers are missing, with two or three having been rescued so far. The cause of the collapse has not been revealed immediately.
