UNRWA: Our Expenditures Will Exceed Our Revenues in March

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, indicated today, Thursday, that "the agency's expenditures will exceed its revenues starting from next month, and that financial problems will worsen in April unless the funding that has been suspended by some countries is resumed."

In an interview with Irish station RTE, Lazzarini stated, "We will enter a negative cash flow starting in March, then the pace will accelerate in April unless these contributions are unfrozen." He added that "the funding crisis we face next month will greatly escalate in April if new funding cannot be secured or if donors do not resume their suspended contributions." Lazzarini said, "Our operation will start being affected from March, but April will truly be the month where we will suffer from a severe cash shortage."
