Wimbledon champion Elena Rebakina suffered a setback before the French Open after withdrawing from the Round of 16 at the Stuttgart Open due to a back injury during her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia on Thursday. The Women's Tennis Association reported that the Kazakh player won one game in the first set and received treatment in the second set when trailing 2-1. Haddad Maia dominated another game before Rebakina withdrew, losing 6-1 and 3-1. The Brazilian player will face Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the quarter-finals later today, Friday. Last week, Rebakina helped Kazakhstan reach the Billie Jean King Cup finals for the second time after defeating Poland 3-1 in the qualifiers. The French Open, the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, will start on May 28 and continue until June 11.
