Japan: A Living Person Found in a House Destroyed by the Earthquake

Kyodo News reported today, Saturday, that a living person was found in a house destroyed by the earthquake in the Noto Peninsula, Japan, four days after the quake. The agency added that "local police received a report of a living person in a house destroyed by the earthquake in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture," noting that rescue operations are still ongoing. A series of major earthquakes occurred on January 1 in the Noto Peninsula region of Ishikawa Prefecture on Japan's west coast, the strongest of which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. So far, the earthquakes have resulted in 126 fatalities, 516 injuries, and the destruction of more than 365 houses either partially or completely.
