United: Greenwood's Return Not Yet Decided

Manchester United indicated on Wednesday that "the decision regarding Mason Greenwood's return to the first team has not yet been made but has reached its final stages." The club stated in a release on their website: "After all charges against Mason Greenwood were dropped, United conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations against him. Throughout this process, the safety of the victim and her perspective were central to the club's investigation, and we respect her right to remain anonymous for life."

They also mentioned that "they have responsibilities towards Mason as an individual who works with us and as a young man who has been at the club since he was seven, now also a new father with a partner." United noted that management will reach a decision soon regarding the England international forward, saying: "Contrary to media speculation, the decision has not yet been made and is currently subject to intensive internal discussions, ultimately resting with the CEO."

In February, police and prosecutors announced that "all criminal charges against Greenwood had been dropped, who was suspended by United in January 2022 when allegations of attempted rape, controlling behavior, and assault emerged on social media in October of last year."
