Twitter Director in France Steps Down

Damien Viel, the general director of Twitter's branch in France, announced his departure from the social media platform without clarifying whether he resigned voluntarily or was forced to leave. Viel tweeted, "It's done," expressing "pride and honor" and affirming that "the mission has been accomplished." He added, "Goodbye Twitter France. What an adventure! What a team!"

Viel's last tweet was on November 4, when the company, recently acquired by Elon Musk, initiated a global wave of layoffs. On that day, Viel stated, "All my thoughts, respect, energy, and love go to Twitter employees around the world today. Together we built the most wonderful app on this planet."

Viel's departure comes at a time when the future of the social network appears uncertain after a tumultuous week that saw more employees leave and the reinstatement of former U.S. President Donald Trump's account on the platform. Musk laid off 50% of the employees, which numbered 7,500, canceled a remote work policy, and imposed long working hours.
