Opening of Polling Stations for Presidential Elections in Eastern Russia

The first polling stations in the Russian presidential elections opened their doors on Friday morning in the far east of Russia as part of a three-day voting period. Due to the time difference, voting began at 8 AM in the Kamchatka Peninsula and the Chukotka region. The Russian Election Commission had previously announced that voting for the presidential elections in the country would continue for three days: March 15, 16, and 17. Four candidates are competing in this presidential election: the current president Vladimir Putin as an independent candidate, Leonid Slutsky from the "Liberal Democratic Party of Russia," Nikolai Haritonov from the "Communist Party of Russia," and Vlasislav Davankov from the "New People Party."
