Tanker tracking service "TankerTrackers.com" reported on the social media platform "X" that "the tanker flying the Marshall Islands flag, detained by Iran in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, is located east of Qeshm Island, Iran." They stated in a post: "Today, the tanker St. Nikolas, owned by a Greek company and insured in the UK, flying the Marshall Islands flag and carrying 1 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil, was found east of Qeshm Island in Iran." Iranian media reported that "Tehran detained the St. Nikolas tanker, loaded with Iraqi crude headed for Turkey, in response to the United States' seizure of the same vessel and a shipment of Iranian oil last year." The U.S. had detained the ship as part of a sanctions enforcement operation while it was sailing under the name Suez Rajan and warned Iran that this action "would not go unanswered."
