The Yemeni armed forces announced today, Thursday, in a statement that "in victory for the plight of the Palestinian people who are currently experiencing killing, destruction, and siege in the Gaza Strip, and in response to the calls of the free people of our great Yemeni nation and our ummah, the naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces carried out a military operation against the container ship 'Maersk Gibraltar', which was heading toward the Israeli entity, and it was targeted by a drone with a direct hit."
It added: "The targeting operation came after the crew of the ship refused to respond to the calls of the Yemeni naval forces. The Yemeni armed forces successfully prevented several ships heading to the Israeli entity in the past 48 hours."
It continued: "The Yemeni armed forces affirm their continued efforts to prevent all ships heading to Israeli ports from navigating in the Arabian and Red Seas until humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, can be delivered to our steadfast brothers in Gaza."
On the other hand, a spokesperson for Maersk stated today, Thursday, that the company's vessel "was not hit."
