The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that it received a threat from Israeli forces to evacuate Al-Quds Hospital immediately. The Palestinian Red Crescent issued an urgent appeal to the international community, stating, "We demand the world to take immediate and urgent action to prevent another massacre like the one that happened at the Baptist Al-Ahli Hospital."
Bashar Murad, the director of Al-Quds Hospital, reported that he received calls from someone identifying themselves as being from the "Israeli Defense Forces." The caller requested the evacuation of the hospital "now" as they were about to carry out a military operation in the vicinity of the hospital.
The hospital director called for the operation to be halted, as the hospital shelters around 12,000 displaced persons and 400 patients, in addition to patients in intensive care who cannot leave.
"Al-Quds Hospital" or "Palestinian Red Crescent Society Hospital - Gaza Branch" is one of the hospitals operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the Gaza Strip, with a bed capacity of around 120 beds in a six-story building, which can be increased to about 200 beds in emergencies. It opened in 2001 in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City. The hospital was destroyed during the Gaza War of 2008-2009.
