WHO: Evacuating Rafah Residents Means Denying Them Healthcare

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that reports of Israel's plans to evacuate Palestinians from Rafah in southern Gaza to expand its ground assault are extremely concerning. Ghebreyesus stated in a press release on Sunday that this plan has devastating consequences for over 1.4 million people who have nowhere left to go and no place to seek healthcare. He noted that hospitals outside the city of Rafah either provide only minimal services or are entirely non-operational, calling for a ceasefire.
