The EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell indicated that the announcement by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich "regarding the construction of 3,300 new units in illegal settlements in the West Bank is inciting and dangerous." He noted that "settlements make both Israelis and Palestinians less safe, fuel tensions, hinder peace efforts, and violate the law."
