Norway announced today, Friday, that it will grant 275 million kroner ($26 million) this year to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), with the possibility of increasing this amount if needed, just days after UNRWA warned that it might cease all its activities by the end of February. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "Due to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Norway may provide additional funds to UNRWA throughout the year." She added that Norway sent 470.5 million kroner to UNRWA last year, explaining that "this amount includes additional funding following the outbreak of war in October." Norway, one of the largest donors to the UN agency, continues to maintain its funding.
