Social media users circulated videos and images of the heavy rains falling in the Medina region of Saudi Arabia. A video shared by the Saudi news channel showed lightning "illuminating the sky over the Prophet's Mosque."
The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued a warning on Wednesday about "heavy rainfall in the Medina region, which includes severe winds, near-zero visibility, hail, flash floods, and thunderbolts."
The affected areas specified by the National Center for Meteorology include "Medina and the provinces of Al-Ays, Khaybar, Yanbu, Al-Hanakia, Badr, and the Al-Rais Center," noting that the weather conditions are expected to continue until 6 PM (local time).
