Sudani: We Refuse to Be a Launching Point for Threats to Neighboring Countries

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani demanded today, Friday, that "friendly and honest countries" assist his government in combating corruption and recovering Iraq's embezzled funds. He affirmed that his government adopts a balanced foreign policy that avoids interference in the affairs of neighboring countries. This statement was made during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He stated, "Our government has adopted an approach that has restored confidence in the political system in Iraq. We depend on a balanced foreign policy." He added, "Our government’s program is economic and developmental, and we have made significant progress in Iraq. We call on friendly and honorable countries to help us fight corruption and recover Iraq's embezzled funds. We have also been keen on a balanced foreign policy to ensure that Iraq is stable within its surroundings. We affirm our commitment to international law and to establishing the best relations with countries around the world. Iraq refuses to be a launching point for threats to any neighboring countries."
