The National Market Regulatory Authority in China announced today, Friday, that "Tesla has begun recalling 1.62 million vehicles, some of which are Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y in China." The authority stated in a statement that "Tesla can update the vehicles remotely to fix the issues that have arisen. This step is classified as a recall under Chinese regulations." It noted, "Some of these vehicles are imported Model S and Model X, as well as locally produced Model 3 and Model Y manufactured from 2014 to 2023." The American automaker will conduct a remote update for approximately 1.61 million cars. This recall comes in Tesla's second-largest market, following two similar actions taken by the company in the United States in December.
