Russian news agencies reported, citing a Russian official, that Russian planes bombed two bases run by fighters in Syria's Idlib province today, killing 20 anti-government militants. The agencies quoted Admiral Vadim Kolet, a senior official at a Russian center aimed at finding a settlement in Syria, stating that the strikes occurred on Tuesday. Russian forces have been fighting in Syria for ten years in support of President Bashar al-Assad's government. Kolet added that the attacks destroyed "two sites used as bases by fighters participating in shelling Syrian government forces. More than 20 terrorists were killed." The agencies also quoted Kolet stating that a Syrian soldier was killed when government forces came under fire from militants in the Lattakia province in the past 24 hours.
