U.S. lawmakers emphasized that a bill which, if passed, would compel the Chinese entity owning the "TikTok" app to sell it or face a ban in the U.S., will move cautiously in the Senate after being approved by the House of Representatives. The overwhelming approval of the bill in the House and President Joe Biden's support for the step have raised concerns that the app, used by 170 million people in the United States, could be banned within months. However, hopes of "TikTok" opponents for a swift Senate approval of the bill have faded, as senior members of the Senate indicated that the bill will follow the usual legislative process, which could take months. Senator Ron Wyden stated, "These areas are evolving and changing so quickly that significant harm can be caused by moving too fast or without the facts."
