Control of Massive Fire at Security Directorate in Ismailia Governorate, Egypt - Video

Egypt's state television announced that the fire at the Security Directorate in Ismailia Governorate has been brought under control after witnesses and local media reported that a large fire broke out early today, Monday. The Egyptian Ambulance Authority reported that at least 25 people were injured in an initial count of injuries. Video clips, whose authenticity could not be verified, on social media showed the building engulfed in flames. Two witnesses stated that fire trucks arrived at the scene but seemed to have difficulties controlling the fire.

Civil defense sources reported that the fire caused parts of the building to collapse. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Flames spread to several floors of the building, while officials, including the governor of Ismailia and the security director, headed to the site to monitor the situation. A large number of fire trucks were dispatched to attempt to contain the flames. It was also decided to utilize fire trucks from the armed forces in Ismailia.

Immediately after the fire broke out, quick evacuation operations began for police personnel from inside the Security Directorate. Several prisoners who were inside the building were also evacuated.
