The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced today, Friday, that it is "investigating a widespread cyber attack affecting its networks while simultaneously addressing it." Spokesperson for the federal police, Marie Eve Breton, stated in a release that "an incident of this magnitude is concerning," adding that the force is "actively managing" the attack. With assistance from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, which provides Ottawa with information technology security and foreign signal intelligence, the police stated that they are "still assessing the scale and scope of the security breach."
