Meeting Between the Minister of Defense and the Army Commander: Agreements Reached

Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed the situation of the military institution and the relationship between the Ministry of Defense and the Army Command with Minister of National Defense Maurice Sleem and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun. During the meeting held at the Grand Serail, they agreed to resolve discrepancies in a spirit of cooperation, preserving the army and its role, as well as the close relationship between the Minister of Defense and the Army Commander. Financial needs of the army and all security agencies were also discussed. Mikati had chaired a meeting that included Minister of National Defense Maurice Sleem, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, Director General of Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Othman, Director General of State Security Major General Tony Saliba, Acting Director General of General Security Brigadier General Elias Beissari, and Director General of the Ministry of Finance George Meraoui.
