The Ruler of Sharjah, Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, inaugurated the Hanging Gardens in Kalba and launched the Arabian oryx project, as well as opened the "Deer Canopies" adjacent to the Al Hefaiyah Nature Reserve, along with other protected ecological areas. This project, which is part of the new expansion of the Al Hefaiyah Center for Mountainous Environmental Conservation in Kalba, aims to provide a large natural environment for the breeding of the endangered Arabian oryx. The deer canopies offer a shaded platform for visitors to observe the deer.
Upon his arrival at the center, he listened to a detailed explanation about the efforts to conserve rare and endangered animals and birds, including the Arabian oryx and Nubian ibex, which the center has successfully reintroduced into the Hajar Mountains. The Al Hefaiyah Reserve is home to more than 30 different species of mountain animals and is renowned for its rich biodiversity, containing a variety of plants and animals. This highlights the significance of the area in terms of its heritage, environmental, and touristic value.
