Rescue of 20 Syrians During Illegal Smuggling Attempt

The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement on Monday: "On March 11, 2024, upon receiving information about a vessel sinking off the coast of the city of Tripoli while being used to illegally smuggle individuals, a patrol from the naval forces of the army was able to rescue 20 Syrians, including women, who were on board. The army assisted them with the help of elements from the Lebanese Red Cross and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and transferred the vessel to the shore."
