The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, wrote on his Twitter account: "After exhausting efforts that continued throughout the night to extinguish the Btrmaz fire, cooling and controlling the fire is now underway by volunteer members of the Civil Defense centers in Sir, Al-Sefireh, and Bkhoun, supported by the emergency and relief apparatus, first responders, and local residents. This is a warning signal about climate changes as fires begin on March 1." He added, "Many thanks to the Civil Defense volunteers, the emergency and relief apparatus, and the residents who participated in extinguishing the fire. In the coming weeks, we will work to enhance the first responder teams in all regions."
A large fire broke out in the Al-Sefireh - Btrmaz forest last night, prompting residents to call for the Civil Defense to respond, as it rapidly spread due to the strong winds in the area and approached nearby homes. Mansour Sarour, Head of the Service and Operations Division in the Civil Defense, announced that they were working quickly to extinguish the fire, noting that "we are facing difficulties due to the wind speed." Sarour emphasized that the fire at this time of night was surprising and stressed the need for "effective management at all times, especially in large forested areas."
