Swedish Embassy: Leave Lebanon Now

The Swedish Embassy in Lebanon announced in a statement that "the Swedish government advises against traveling to Lebanon and urges all Swedes to leave the country." The embassy emphasized "the importance of Swedes departing Lebanon now, while commercial flights are still available, as this may not be possible if the security situation deteriorates. Swedes who choose to travel to Lebanon or remain there despite the government's clear call to leave will have to bear significant personal responsibility."

It clarified that "in the event of armed conflict or serious disturbances, the Swedish government and the embassy in Beirut will have very limited capabilities to assist Swedes in Lebanon. Therefore, we advise leaving the country now while it is still possible. If you stay in Lebanon despite the warnings, I strongly advise you to exercise extreme caution and stay informed about developments in Lebanon and the region."

The embassy stressed "the importance of regularly checking travel advice on the embassy's website, Sweden Abroad, and registering in the list of Swedes in Lebanon. However, if you have left Lebanon, you must cancel your registration from the list."
