Saudi Finance Minister: Saudi Investments in Iran Could Happen Quickly

Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan confirmed during the first Private Sector Forum for the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund, which is the main driver of the local economy, that there are many opportunities for Saudi investments in Iran. He stated that he sees no obstacles as long as the terms of any agreement are respected. He added, "Our investments in Iran could happen very quickly, and there is no reason for us not to invest in Iran or for them not to invest in Saudi Arabia. It is in our interest to ensure that both countries benefit from each other’s resources and competitive advantages."

In a statement to Reuters, Al-Jadaan said, "Stability in the region is very important for the world and the countries in the region. We always say that Iran is our neighbor, and we have no interest in conflict with our neighbors if they are willing to cooperate." He further stated that if the Iranians "are willing to engage in this process, we are fully prepared to engage in this process and show that they are welcome, and we would be more than happy to participate in their development."
