Von der Leyen Urges EU to Use Profits from Frozen Russian Assets to Arm Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday that the EU should consider using profits from frozen Russian assets to purchase military supplies for Ukraine. In a speech to the European Parliament, she urged the EU to make more efforts in defense policy, stating, "It is time to start a discussion about using the abundant profits from frozen Russian assets to buy joint military equipment for Ukraine." She added, "There is no stronger symbolism or greater use of this money than making Ukraine and all of Europe a safer place to live."
