Arrest of a Suspect in Scams and Thefts

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "In the framework of the daily monitoring conducted by the internal security forces to combat thefts through fraudulent means, information was gathered by the Information Branch regarding an unknown individual executing fraudulent theft operations targeting citizens and shop owners in various Lebanese regions. As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, this branch was able to identify his identity; his name is: - Q. K. (born in 1987, registered as unknown). On January 9, 2024, after close observation, one of the branch's patrols managed to arrest him in Aramoun. Upon searching him, a quantity of hashish was found in his possession. During the investigation, he admitted to the charges against him regarding the execution of many fraudulent thefts targeting citizens and shop owners in the South, Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Baalbek, and the North, where he would request the exchange of a sum of money, and during that, he would steal part of the amount from the victim's hand. Legal procedures were taken against him, and he was detained along with the seized items based on the directives of the competent judiciary."
