Lebanon's caretaker Minister of Agriculture Abbas Haj Hassan confirmed that "the region is witnessing significant agricultural development." He stated, "The quadruple meetings will expand to include other countries, and an important meeting will be announced in the coming days." After his meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Muhammad Hassan Qatana, Haj Hassan noted that "the partnership between the two countries at the agricultural level represents the beginning of similar relationships with all Arab countries," adding that "the positive atmosphere the region is experiencing should be utilized in the right framework." He highlighted that "Lebanese-Syrian relations in agriculture are currently in a very distinguished phase, hoping that it will reflect positively on all other sectors, which in turn will positively impact import, export, and transit operations," and emphasized that "Syria is Lebanon's only gateway to the Arab world and the Gulf countries."
For his part, Qatana confirmed that "the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Damascus is the result of several meetings held between the four countries, culminating in an exceptional and actual executive procedure for the benefit of the peoples of the four countries." He noted that "the executive frameworks for commercial and agricultural exchange between the four countries have been established, representing the first agreement in the Arab world among four neighboring and bordering countries." He added, "When we unite agriculturally, it means we have entered a phase of preparing for economic unity, and thus, we will embark on establishing an economic power at the level of the Arab world."
