The "Darb Akkar" team for forest fire prevention has launched equipment named "Maloucha Al-Haraiq," which has greatly contributed to extinguishing fires in rugged areas. Team leader and innovator Khaled Taleb explained that the idea developed during firefighting operations, where the team faced difficulties and strenuous efforts, especially in areas inaccessible to firefighting vehicles.
Taleb noted that during a meeting with the caretaker Minister of Environment, Nassir Yassin, they presented the problem and were shown a photo of one of the existing pieces of equipment, but its price exceeded $420. They inquired about the possibility of manufacturing a similar device in Lebanon, to which they were told they could create something better at a quarter of the cost. The first version was updated after a period of fieldwork in firefighting in Akkar and beyond, leading to the current third version that has exceeded all expectations; it is at least ten times stronger than anything available in the global market.
He pointed out that the "Maloucha" is a unique innovation of the Darb Akkar team for forest fire prevention, enabling one individual to accomplish tasks equivalent to five people in less time, enhancing workforce efficiency. He announced that the third version is available for anyone interested, with proceeds going towards the development of the team's work and the association.
