Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called today for "restraint and the use of diplomatic means" following drone and missile strikes carried out by Iran and Pakistan this week on militant bases in each other's territories. He warned that "escalation is concerning and is partially a result of the Gaza crisis." In response to a question about the situation between Iran and Pakistan, Peskov stated that "Russia is engaging with both sides through diplomatic channels."
In another context, Peskov noted that "there is no possibility of reviving the grain export agreement via the Black Sea, and alternative routes for shipping Ukrainian grain involve significant risks." The original agreement, which facilitated safe grain exports from Ukraine through the Black Sea, ended last year after Moscow refused to renew it, claiming that its own interests had been ignored.
Regarding BRICS, Peskov expressed regret over Argentina's decision not to join the group and hopes that Buenos Aires will reconsider its decision. In a call with reporters about Argentina's choice, he remarked, "Of course, this is unfortunate, but it is Argentina's sovereign right, and we respect it," adding, "For our part, we hope that the leadership of this country will see over time that returning to BRICS would benefit them more."
