ESPN reported on Friday that "Inter Miami," competing in Major League Soccer, is close to signing Uruguayan national team striker Luis Suárez to join former teammates who have preceded him to the team. Argentine Lionel Messi joined Miami earlier this year, followed by his former Barcelona colleagues Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The quartet participated in Barcelona's 3-1 victory over Juventus in the 2015 UEFA Champions League final in Berlin, where Suárez scored a goal.
Currently, the 36-year-old Suárez is playing for Grêmio in Brazil's top division, after gaining worldwide fame during his time in Europe with Ajax Amsterdam (2007-11), Liverpool (2011-14), Barcelona (2014-20), and Atlético Madrid (2020-22). Suárez returned to his childhood club "Nacional Montevideo" in 2022, before moving to Grêmio this year. ESPN states that Suárez will transfer from Grêmio to Inter Miami after the season in Brazil ends in December.
