Geagea: It Is Unacceptable for the Government to Transfer Strategic Decisions to the Party

Today, Wednesday, Samir Geagea, the leader of the Lebanese Forces party, pointed out that "it is not understandable for the Lebanese government to transfer strategic decisions—military and security—to Hezbollah, thus putting the Lebanese people and Lebanon's higher interests at the mercy of the winds of the region and the ongoing conflicts between its various parties." He stated, "Military escalation is shifting from one region to another in the Middle East and is increasing, while the Lebanese citizen is living in great anxiety due to this escalation, where Iran and its arms are fighting on one side and America and Israel on the other. Hezbollah in Lebanon, as one of Iran's arms, is engaged in military escalation according to the current confrontation logic between Iran, America, and Israel. So far, this is understandable, despite being rejected."

Geagea asserted that "while all Arab countries, from the largest to the smallest, are distancing themselves from the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the Middle East, we do not understand by what logic Lebanon is being dragged into this war, especially since it is currently the smallest and poorest country due to its ongoing financial, economic, and political crisis."

He added, "It would be good if someone could explain to us by what right and logic Lebanon is being dragged into this bloody conflict in the Middle East." He continued, "Perhaps the caretaker government, being a caretaker government, cannot undertake developmental projects, economic initiatives, or infrastructure renewal, but it is part of its responsibilities to keep the specter of war away from Lebanon and confront the dangerous matters that threaten the safety, life, family, livelihood, and interests of its citizens and the future of their country."

The leader of the Lebanese Forces highlighted that "the political forces making up this government, specifically the resistance axis, the Free Patriotic Movement, and some independents, regardless of their internal disagreements and selfish interests, all bear the responsibility for what the conditions in Lebanon may lead to if the caretaker government continues to evade its responsibilities by adopting the position of the resistance axis regarding the wars occurring in the Middle East."
