The Public Prosecutor in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, stated that "holding the state solely responsible for the economic collapse is nothing but a preliminary stage for canceling the deposits, as it is clear that the state is bankrupt. No one can force it to comply, even if rulings are issued against it. Does anyone understand the consequences of this disastrous plan?" In response to a post that stated, "There is no solution other than selling gold to recover our deposits, and the adage holds true: 'Save your white penny for your black day,'" Judge Aoun wrote: "No, this is not the optimal solution, but rather holding accountable everyone who caused this crime."
