Algerian security forces in the Chlef province, western Algeria, thwarted an illegal sea migration attempt involving 12 individuals. On March 18, the Algerian coast guard detained 10 people who were preparing to migrate by sea from the rocky island beach west of the city of Beni Hawa aboard a leisure boat. The Algerian security stated that the ages of those detained ranged from 17 to 48 years, and they come from several provinces. Following an investigation into the case, two other individuals, identified as main organizers of the operation, were apprehended.
