Lebanon Faces Saudi Arabia in the Semifinals of the West Asia Electronic Football Championship

The Lebanese national team has qualified for the semifinals of the West Asia Electronic Football Championship, hosted by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in the capital, Riyadh, at the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation hall. Lebanon secured its place in the semifinals by finishing second in Group B with 3 points after drawing with Oman and Kuwait 0-0 in the first leg, drawing with Oman 2-2, and losing to Kuwait 3-2 in the second leg.

The tournament is being conducted in a home-and-away league format, similar to the semifinal and final rounds, to ensure fairness and allow participating teams to play as many matches as possible. Today, in the semifinals, the Lebanese team will meet the Saudi team home and away at 4 PM Beirut time, followed by a match between Kuwait and Qatar at 5 PM in the "SEF Arena." The final match of the tournament will take place the same day at 7 PM.

This edition of the tournament is hosted in person, under the umbrella of the International Federation, and during the FIFA-recognized days for electronic football. It is played in a (2v2) format on the PlayStation platform, with a total of 4 players per team.

It is worth mentioning that the first edition of the tournament took place in April 2021 via video conferencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic at that time, where the Saudi team won the title, while the UAE team finished second, Kuwait third, and Qatar fourth. The second edition was held in July 2021, also remotely, and the Kuwaiti team managed to secure the title, with the Saudi team finishing second, and the Emirates and Qatar teams in third and fourth place, respectively.

The Saudi team holds the title of the third edition, which was held in person in Kuwait in May 2022, with the Qatari team finishing second, the Kuwaiti team third, and the Lebanese team fourth overall.
