The authorities of the internationally recognized Yemeni government have declared a state of maximum alert and closed schools in anticipation of the tropical storm "Teigh," which is expected to reach the provinces of Socotra, Al-Mahra, and Hadramout tomorrow, Sunday, and will continue to have an impact until Wednesday.

The Yemeni Center for Meteorology and Early Warning stated today, Saturday, that the cyclone has begun to show its effects on Socotra Archipelago, located in the Indian Ocean, with the formation of thunderstorm clouds over the western and eastern coasts of Yemen.

The center explained in a statement that satellite images and weather maps show the development of the tropical storm in the southern Arabian Sea, currently located 550 kilometers from Socotra Archipelago and about 990 kilometers from the coast of Al-Mahra province in the southeast of the country.

According to the center, the cyclone is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour towards the west and northwest in the Indian Ocean, heading towards Al-Mahra province in Yemen and Dhofar in Oman, where cloudy conditions are expected with heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over Socotra Archipelago and the eastern and southeastern regional waters in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The center also predicted strong winds in the coming hours. Citizens on Socotra Island were warned against being in flood channels and the bottoms of valleys. Additionally, ships and fishermen were cautioned against sailing in areas affected by the dangerous weather conditions due to the high waves.
