The percentage of LGBTQ individuals continues to rise in the United States, reaching a record high of 7.6%, according to the latest survey conducted by the Gallup organization. The 2023 survey results indicate that if the current increase continues, the number of the LGBTQ community in the U.S. could reach 10% within the next three decades. Gallup noted that the percentage of American adults identifying as gay or transgender has doubled since the organization first surveyed the topic in 2012. It pointed out that each younger generation is nearly twice as likely to identify as LGBTQ compared to the previous generation. The organization found that parental ideology plays an important role in the mental health of teenagers. It confirmed that one in five adults aged 18 to 26 in 2023 identify as LGBTQ, and one in ten adults aged 27 to 42 identify as LGBTQ.
