Washington and London Prepare to Strike the Houthis

The political editor of the British newspaper The Times reported today, Thursday, that Britain is expected to join the United States in launching nighttime airstrikes on military sites belonging to the Houthis in Yemen. The report mentioned that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak informed his government ministers about the imminent military intervention against the Houthis on Thursday evening. The Times noted that Sunak will hold a full Cabinet meeting tonight as the United Kingdom and the United States prepare to carry out military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.

British Defense Minister Grant Shapps stated that military action was imminent earlier this week, warning that "this is enough" after ships and destroyers were downed from aircraft carriers in the Red Sea, amid a barrage of drones and missiles launched by Iran-backed forces. London and Washington have repeatedly warned that airstrikes are forthcoming. The British government held an emergency Cobra meeting on Thursday morning, coinciding with a National Security Council meeting. The Wall Street Journal also reported near-confirmed information about Washington and London’s intention to strike the Houthis in Yemen.
