UAE Launches Desalination Stations to Supply Gaza Residents with Water

The Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, Lana Nusseibeh, inaugurated three desalination water stations in the Egyptian Rafah, with the attendance of many representatives from member states of the UN Security Council. This initiative aims to provide the Gaza Strip with its drinking water needs as part of the UAE's humanitarian response to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in the region. This took place during the UN delegation's visit to the Rafah crossing, initiated by the UAE in cooperation with Egypt.

The establishment of the desalination stations in Egyptian Rafah is part of the humanitarian operation "Brave Knight 3," given the deteriorating water infrastructure in Gaza and to meet the water needs of the population. The stations will process approximately 600,000 gallons of water daily and pump it through pipes extending into the Gaza Strip, covering the needs of 300,000 residents. The UAE launched the "Brave Knight 3" humanitarian operation on November 5, aiming to provide humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in Gaza. It has sent 105 aircraft carrying field hospitals, desalination stations, and over 7,126 tons of food, medical, and relief supplies.
