Two New Earthquakes Hit Almaty, Kazakhstan

The Emergency Management Department of the Almaty region in southeastern Kazakhstan reported that two earthquakes were recorded last night, with their epicenters located in China. In a statement today, conveyed by the "Novosti" agency, it was mentioned that a network of seismic stations recorded the tremors at 1:21 AM and 2:35 AM local time. One of the earthquakes, with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale, occurred 258 kilometers southeast of Almaty in China. The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.9, also took place 273 kilometers away in China, and residents of Almaty felt tremors of intensity reaching 2 in both cases. On Tuesday evening, an earthquake measuring 6.7 occurred on the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, with residents of Almaty feeling tremors of 5 in intensity. According to local authorities, 67 people were injured as a result of the earthquake, including three individuals who jumped from the second and third floors of buildings, one of whom is in critical condition. The Kazakh Ministry of Emergencies reassured residents that strong earthquakes are not expected in Almaty in the coming days.
