Egypt launched today, Thursday, a recreational, sports, and artistic festival in New Alamein aimed at attracting one million visitors to the city located on the Mediterranean coast over the course of 44 days, the duration of the festival. The program of the festival, held under the slogan "The World is Alamein", includes competitions for beach soccer, water games, a car race, an international paddle championship, air shows, fashion shows, as well as hosting the Arab Judo Championship.
The program, which will run until August 26, features around ten artistic performances with participation from Tamer Hosny, Ragheb Alama, Nancy Ajram, Elissa, Omar Khairat, Angham, the Cairo-Kai band, and American rapper "Russ", in addition to five theatrical performances.
Amr Al-Feky, the CEO and managing director of the United Media Services company involved in organizing and promoting the festival, stated, "A selection of artists, musicians, creators, and athletes will participate in the festival throughout the summer season, offering a unique summer experience on the Mediterranean coast." He added, "The festival aims to welcome one million visitors from across the Arab world, making New Alamein City one of the best destinations globally, placing it on the world tourism map, and promoting various investment opportunities in Alamein, which contributes to increasing economic growth rates and providing more job opportunities."
New Alamein City is one of the fourth-generation cities that Egypt began developing in recent years to accommodate the population increase and increase the populated area. The city's area is approximately 48,000 acres and includes a presidential headquarters, a government headquarters, a private university, and several international hotels. It is planned to accommodate around three million inhabitants upon completion.
